Diesel

Turbo Van Diesel CDX JH WC (Diesel)

Diesel was out of our Buffy and Bouncer Litter. From the beginning we knew we were going to keep Diesel. He stood out from the rest of the litter because of his appearance and lighter in color. Diesel was our field and show hopeful. He was always calm. Our daughter named him Frank and decided he was going to be her dog. Therefore, early on he received a lot of attention from her and her friends.

The name Frank didn’t seem to fit, so our daughter named him Diesel (after Vin Diesel, the actor). We did not like that connection and changed his name a little and registered him as Turbo Van Diesel. He was a big boy with a lighter show coat. The name Diesel just seemed to fit him. Diesel didn’t resemble the rest of the litter, so we looked up his Grandpa’s picture and that is where he got his looks. His Grandpa, Caper, was a handsome obedience and conformation champion named CH OTCH Breakwater Ice Capade UDX (HIT).

We also kept Diesel’s sister, Josie, from the Buffy and Bouncer Litter, and Diesel had to learn to live with two very dominant females. Josie dominated Diesel and Diesel took it.

Diesel obtained his CDX, JH and WC Titles, but it was apparent that Diesel didn’t care to run hunt tests after being traumatized by a yard goose and would never again approach a wounded duck that looked at him with the same beady eyes. Instead, he preferred chasing tennis balls and being a couch dog and enjoying the attention from everyone around him. Diesel was retired at the same point as Josie when she was injured and they all became momma’s (Pat) dogs while Ron went off to train HayLee, Josie’s pup.

Because of Diesel’s calm, loving demeanor he was everyone’s favorite. Diesel was never alone and we always took him to work with us. He was a friend to everyone and they were his friend, especially if they had food. He always knew when someone at work was eating their lunch and we could always find him perched under their desk hoping they would drop a crumb or two.

Diesel passed away in early 2015 before he turned 13. It is a loss we feel every day. He was a one of a kind dog that we’ll never forget the joy he brought to us and everyone he came in contact with.
